Location
South East of a small hill which extends to the North East of the pico de Cabeza Muxa.
Access
From Lago Ercina (reached by road from Covadonga) follow the trail to Vega Maor, traversing Belbin, Parres and Arneado and climbin to the south towards pico Cabeza Muxa. The cave can also be reached by a trail running SW of the Ario refugio (which is accessed by track from Lago Ercina).
Notes
The cave is formed in the Montaña limestones (upper carboniferous). It has been dye traced to the Culiembro resurgence in the Cares gorge. It was discovered by the G. E. Polermo and the OJE in 1973. Exploration was completed by the SIE who found the terminal sump at -906m. The sump was dived by the Northern Pennine Club in 1988 who followed the submerged passage to a depth of 28m.
